Cool Uptime indicators in Redline 3

Since a few days a new build of Redline is available, and beside a number of bug fixes, there are some very cool uptime graphs on various places.
On the Dashboard is a bar that indicates how "available" your GroupWise environment was during the last 30 days.

Similar graphs are available on the Full Health Dashboard and in the System View. Now you can show your boss how good your GroupWise environment runs.

Define your own thresholds in Redline 3

Many people struggle if it comes to user defined thresholds in Redline, but it's not that complicated. Look here and find out how easy it is:

How to create a new threshold:

Assume we need a threshold which defines that every server has at least 50 MB of free memory available. If not, send an email to admin@mydomain.com.

1.Click on Configure / Thresholds / Host.
2.Check the Status Enabled checkbox.
3.Give the new threshold a name, for example: Minimum Host memory.
4.Click on the „Browse“ button and click on the column title „Description“ to sort the table based on that column.

Measure real Post Office database size with Redline

GroupWise can report on how much Disk Space is still available on a partition, with GWCheck you can determine how much space all users use in their mailbox, but there is no way to get data about how much space the Post Office database is using all together, including BLOB files which are not linked to any message any more, logfiles, problem files etc. Redline get's the real database size every night at 3:00am and provides this value in the Control Center. On the Status Tab for every Post Office you can see the real database size.

Monitor Memory and Disk Space with Redline

Some of the most interesting values of a Server are how much memory and disk space is available. If there is not enough, you need to add more memory or a larger disk drive.

Sometimes it happens that you run out of memory or disk space and you need to react immediately. With the upcoming Redline 3.0SP1 I've added memory and disk space monitoring for all platforms (Linux, NetWare, Windows) and you can draw really nice graphs which show how the memory or disk space has changed during the last day/week/month/year.

During the last 2 weeks Taylor and I worked on a new Redline demo server. And this server is coming along really nice.
It's much more than just a demo server now. You can find Technotes, Documents, links to Support and the Forums, Certification information, Tips & Tricks, Videos and more.

Check out this new page and let me know what you think at http://redline.gwava.com.

Hey, welcome from Redline 3

Redline 3 was a big amount of work, and it has the infrastructure in place that I wanted from the beginning. It took nearly 2 years of work to create the backend side.

What does that mean: Redline 3.0SP1 will ship very soon, with a couple of new features, including Online Updates, Alert Status indicators, graph direction configurable, improved Reports and more,

In the next weeks there will be several new Reports available, and a couple of videos will be recorded to show what you can do with Redline and how it can help you to improve your GroupWise environment.

And some really cool features are coming soon. More on that in later blogs.
