You know . . . . maybe the reason backup solutions are called "backup" is that backup technologies often make you feel as though you are going back into the computing stone ages.

Below are some of the un-written, but well established laws of "backup" solutions.

Some of these laws we've had for so long that we have come to believe them and accept them. Here are just some of them:

1. You cannot get at backed up data quickly.

2. If you want to get at backed-up data quickly, you must have a complete copy of the data on disk some place.

3. Backups are difficult, there's no way around it.

3. GroupWise integration isn't necessary, it's just a bunch of data.

4. GroupWise SmartPurge, integration, what's that.

5. Push-Button Disaster Recovery? We don't do that! Sounds like you want clustering.

6. Umm... we don't have a backup solution for GroupWise on LinuxWikipedia.">Wikipedia." class="glossary-indicator">i

7. You need to install our software on every serverWikipedia.">Wikipedia." class="glossary-indicator">i that houses your GroupWise system.

8. Sure our backup solution is slow, your post offices are hundreds of Gigabytes, what do you expect?

9. Intra-day backups, in a hot-backup form, well that's going to cost you additional disk space.

10. We can't guarantee that items that come during the time of the backup will all be intact. That's impossible to accomplish because of GroupWise's unique message store design.

Break Free!

GroupWise has such a superior design and is more flexible and standards based than any other groupware solution.

Finally, with Reload, a vendor has created a solution that fully leverages GroupWise's unique and superior design to give Lighting Fast Backups, 2-Minute Message Restore and Push-Button Disaster Recovery.
