Every now and then I have to help some GroupWise administrators with knowledgebase article KB12624 regarding 'enabling embedded messages' on your BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

When an email message is forwarded as an attachment by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to the BlackBerry device, the email message may include an unrelated embedded object (for example, an embedded email message from the Novell GroupWise serverWikipedia.">Wikipedia." class="glossary-indicator">i). When the same email message is delivered to the BlackBerry device user’s email application, the message includes only the correct attachments. This issue does not occur if the message is forwarded as text and not as an attachment.

In BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 3 and up, a registry value is added that, by default, prevents the forwarding of embedded email messages. If an email message that includes an embedded object is forwarded to a BlackBerry device by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server removes the embedded text from the email message and replaces it with the following note:

Embedded message text insertion is disabled. Users can read any text that was added before the message was forwarded, but they cannot read the original text of the message.
